OUR HISTORY
It began as a journey...
.... A journey driven by the curiosity of an underprivileged five-year-old boy after receiving an old, damaged, previously owned toy doctor's kit. The aspirations and the pathway to become a physician was then initiated with a desire to change the world.
The Thomas Gaiter Foundation founded in 2009 by Dr. Gaiter, was created in response to the lack of support for the educational and medical needs of the disadvantaged.
Stemming from a personal background of financial struggle, Dr. Gaiter recognized that an
innovative and sustainable approach was needed, hence the creation of the foundation.
At the Thomas Gaiter Foundation, a national and international nonprofit, we believe that no one should be denied the chance to pursue their dreams. That is why we strive to provide a range of resources to help individuals, families and communities, particularly those from low-income backgrounds, gain access to education, healthcare, and basic needs such as food, safe water, clothing and shelter. We are committed to our cause, and to the communities we serve.
We are driven by our core values of compassion, collaboration, and respect.
Since our inception, we have multiple programs and projects with the goal of reaching as
many people and communities as possible in America and around the world.
Dr. Thomas E. Gaiter was the Chief Medical Officer of Howard University Hospital and the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at Howard University, College of Medicine. He is a Fellow
in the American Academy of Family Physicians as well as a member of The Alpha Omega
Alpha Honor Medical Society.
